Elementary School

BCA elementary school includes grades K-5. Our goal is to develop students who are well balanced academically, socially, physically, emotionally and spiritually through a Christ-centered curriculum. Students develop critical thinking skills and learning strategies at each grade level. Students attend Chapel services every week. Snack and recess times are incorporated into the daily activities, and hot lunch is available Monday through Thursday. A reading resource teacher is available for students needing additional reading support. For an additional fee, academic enrichment programs are available to students who qualify.

The curriculum is both challenging and relevant emphasizing a Biblical world view in every subject. Core subjects include Bible, Language Arts and Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. A full compliment of enrichment classes are offered each week including music, art, computer, P.E, and Spanish. Band is offered to students beginning in the 5th grade. While students in grades 1-3 remain in their classroom for the instructional day, grades 4 and 5 change for subject areas.

One of the distinctive features of our elementary school is the reading curriculum. BCA uses the Foundations and Frameworks reading program to teach reading comprehension using visual tools to help students organize their thoughts in a logical and coherent manner. This program progresses from an emphasis on phonetic development to reading fluently to developing reading comprehension with the use of visual tools to aid students in processing what they have read. These comprehension skills often carry over into other subject areas as students get older.
